How to Migrate EPMA Applications between two Environment (of different versions) when LCM fails (Doc ID 1187985.1)

Purpose

LCM does not support application migration between environments of different EPM versions as export files (XML files) format has changed considerably between these two versions which would cause the import to fail.
The LCM migrations between environments of different EPM versions may fail for planning artifacts and metadata migration may not be complete when it comes to associations and smartlists. Business rules migration fail due to the fact that the import XML format has changed between the two versions.

The best approach would be to use a combination of ADS import and database restore migration.

Scope

This document provides a workaround for migrations where you are migrating applications from one environment to another which are not the same version and, therefore, the LCM utility cannot be used.
