Discoverer 11g (188.8.131.52.0 or greater), both Desktop and Plus, will not allow a negative condition which is related to a date item in the outer portion of an outer join, when connected to an 11g database.
There is a table of employees and a table of sales, and reporting all possible employees plus any sale cases for those employees (outer join) but not cases (negative condition) where the end date of the sale case is blank (using a date field on the outer side of the query).
Depending on the query this may returns errors, like:
ORA-920: invalid relational operator
~ or ~
ORA-00932-Inconsistent Datatypes: expected number got date
Alternatively, the query may not fail, but will run slowly resulting in query performance degradation in Discoverer Desktop, Plus, or Viewer 11g (version 184.108.40.206 or 220.127.116.11).
