Symptoms

When installing OBIEE 11g or upgrading to it from a previous version, you might get one of a number of error messages.

1. Upgrade assistant process stops at 4%. Checking the upgrade log file, OBIEE_HOME/upgrade/logs, you see the following message:

2. The Administrator user (weblogic) is not able to log in Oracle BIEE page you get an error about invalid user name or password:

When logging into Enterprise Manager, there is no response.
The configuration step has errored: obips failed
The BI Presentation server can not start or run correctly, so user cannot log in to OBIEE.


3. The configuration assistant fails after some time with an error:

Caused by: java.lang.UnsatisfiedLinkError: C:\oracle\Middleware\wlserver_10.3\server\native\win\32\nodemanager.dll: Can't load IA 32-bit .dll on a AMD 64-bit platform.
NMProcess: <Jan 2, 2011 2:02:39 PM> <SEVERE> <Fatal error in node manager server>
NMProcess: weblogic.nodemanager.common.ConfigException: Native version is enabled but nodemanager native library could not be loaded
java.lang.UnsatisfiedLinkError: no GetVolumeInfo in java.library.path



4. Opatch does not work when run. It gives the following error:

5. You want to install a second instance of OBIEE on the server. The first instance is fully configured and working fine, but when running config.bat in the Oracle_BI1\bin directory for the second instance, you get the error:

Inst-07408 Unable to install or configure the Produce on a 32-bit JVM on a 64Bit machine.



6. You are attempting to install OBIEE 11g (11.1.1.3.0) using the Linux 32-bit media on 64-bit Linux running 32-bit emulation. The installation is failing at 92 percent on the installation screen. The install logs show this error:

genclntsh: Failed to link libclntsh.so.11.1
make: *** [client_sharedlib] Error 1



7. While installing OBIEE11g, the installer failed when re-starting the administration server with this error:

Unrecognized VM option '-UseSSE42Intrinsics'
Could not create the Java virtual machine.



8. You have Weblogic Server 10.3.3 already installed. Can you install OBIEE 11.1.1.3.0 with this Weblogic Server or do you have to use the Weblogic Server bundled in the OBIEE installation software?
