EPMA Data Synchronizer fails to Load certain Characters (£, #) from Flat File to Planning Application

The characters "£" and "#" fail to load via EPMA data synchronisation.
For example, a flat file to be used as the source data with one of the following lines loaded in a Planning application in the specified cross section:
 T0001~FY10~FEB~Final~Actual~Data_input~CG1102~A541101~Description~RichardGere £100
 T0001~FY10~FEB~Final~Actual~Data_input~CG1102~A541101~Description~RichardGere #100
If the above data is loaded to the planning application, the £ or # sign fails to load.
