Symptoms

When configuring Scheduler, saving an iBot, or saving a change to a repository, or just connecting to OBIEE, you get an error message which includes the line:

[nQSError: 12008] Unable to connect to port <number> on machine <machine name>.


These are some examples of the complete error message that you might encounter:

Oracle BI Scheduler Error:
[nQSError: 12008] Unable to connect to port 9705 on machine ccsPrimary="Machine1" ccsPrimaryPort="9706" ccsSecondary="Machine2" ccsSecondaryPort="9706".
[nQSError: 46131] Unresolved host name: ccsPrimary="Machine1" ccsPrimaryPort="9706" ccsSecondary="Machine2" ccsSecondaryPort="9706". Could not get details about the specified host

[nQSError: 77006] Oracle BI Presentation server error: Access denied.
Error Codes: OKZJNLK4
[nQSError: 10058] A general error has occurred.
[nQSError: 12008] Unable to connect to port 9705 on machine biappr.
[nQSError: 12010] Communication error connecting to remote end point: address = biappr; port = 9705.
[nQSError: 12002] Socket communication error at call=: (Number=-1)

Odbc driver returned an error (SQLDriverConnectW).
State: HY000. Code: 10058. [NQODBC] [SQL_STATE: HY000] [nQSError: 10058] A general error has occurred.
[nQSError: 12008] Unable to connect to port 9703 on machine <one of the BI Server name>.
[nQSError: 12010] Communication error connecting to remote end point: address = <BI Server name>; port = 9703.
[nQSError: 12002] Socket communication error at call=: (Number=-1) Unknown error 4294967295 (HY000)
