Symptoms
A Weblogic managed server configured for EPM products such as CalcMgr or Planning will not start up. The log for the JVM Weblogic application shows following error:
<Critical> <Security> <BEA-090402> <Authentication denied: Boot identity not valid; The user name and/or password from the boot identity file (boot.properties) is not valid. The boot identity may have been changed since the boot identity file was created. Please edit and update the boot identity file with the proper values of username and password. The first time the updated boot identity file is used to start the server, these new values are encrypted.>
The boot.properties file is located in %MIDDLEWARE_HOME%/user_projects/epm_system/domains/EPMSystem/servers/<managed server name>/security.
When the boot.properties file for the managed server is updated with a verified user and password, and the startup script is rerun, the error reoccurs and on verifying the boot.properties file, the user and password have not been encrypted.
