Purpose

This knowledge management article offers some hints on how to set up and work with an Oracle Enterprise Linux 5 environment in preparation for installation of EPM 11.1.2.1.

Scope

The intended audience for this KM document are Unix/Linux users who want to install Oracle Hyperion Enterprise 11.1.2.1 in a Linux environment.

 1. Source PuTTY, VNC, and FTP to interact remotely with a Linux environment (before or after installing that environment).
 2. Download an Oracle Enterprise Linux 5 U5 Server installer.
 3. Install OEL 5
 4. Set up a network connection.
 6. Use 'yum' to install needed library packages (see KM 880989.1 and 169706.1).
 7. Use 'vi' (or use the simpler nano or gedit)
 8. Configure OS kernel parameters (edit in vi as root: /etc/sysctl.conf). 
 9. Install a full Oracle database client.
