Statement of Direction
Oracle Essbase Visual Explorer is an option to Oracle Essbase and is a visualization tool that brings analysis and discovery capabilities to the business user. Oracle Essbase Visual Explorer works in conjunction with Oracle Essbase to allow users to create queries, perform analyses, and discover exceptions and patterns in their data.
As of June 1, 2011, Oracle Essbase Visual Explorer will no longer be available for general sales distribution. EPM System release 22.214.171.124 is the last generally available release that include Oracle Essbase Visual Explorer. Existing licensed customers of Oracle Essbase Visual Explorer will continue to be supported by Oracle per the terms of their maintenance agreements with Oracle.
The Oracle Business Intelligence Foundation Suite is the strategic Oracle direction for BI features, including visual discovery capabilities. Oracle recognizes, first, the value of visual analysis of data in order to explore data and discover business insight as well as, secondly, the importance of this capability against Essbase.
Visual analysis within Oracle BI Foundation Suite is an important product emphasis. Capabilities exist in this area today; and Oracle has plans to deliver significant enhancements in this area with future releases of the Oracle BI Foundation. This style of analysis is important not only against Essbase but also against the numerous data sources which can be addressed within the Oracle BI Common Enterprise Information Model. Tight incorporation of Essbase within this semantic layer and business analysis directly against Essbase are also strategic for Oracle and enhancements are ongoing.
Oracle believes that it will be compelling for existing Visual Explorer customers to adopt the Oracle BI Foundation for data visualization requirements on Essbase and other data sources as enhanced features become available.
