DRM Error at Logon "'Server Was Unable to Process the Request ---> Authentication Failed for User 'NAME'. Invalid Credentials."

Information in this document applies to any platform.
When you try to log on, the following message is displayed:
"Server was unable to process the Request ---> Authentication failed for user 'NAME'. Invalid Credentials"
The system had recently been re-installed to apply an upgrade.
One of the following applies:
- Common Security (CSS) Authentication ONLY is selected (also called External Authentication), but the user is an internal user
- Internal Authentication Only is configured, but the user is an external one.
A fresh DRM/MDM installation has been run.
