Symptoms

In OBIEE 11g, not able to start Presentation service after adding 'UnaccessedRunningTimeoutMinutes' element to the instanceconfig.xml file.

In the file \\Middleware_home\instances\instance1\config\OracleBIPresentationServicesComponent\coreapplication_obips1\instanceconfig.xml, you have added the element:

<UnaccessedRunningTimeoutMinutes>2</UnaccessedRunningTimeoutMinutes>

between the tags

<ServerInstance>....</ServerInstance>

When you re-start Presentation server, you get the following error:

Found an error in \Middleware_home\instances\instance1\diagnostics\logs\OracleBIPresentationServicesComponent\coreapplication_obips1\console~coreapplication_obips1~1.log file.

[Util Logger] Exception occurred:

Unknown element 'UnaccessedRunningTimeoutMinutes'

Element 'UnaccessedRunningTimeoutMinutes' is not valid for content model: 'All(BIforOfficeURL,SmartViewInstallerURL,SmartSpaceInstallerURL,SESSearchUrl,CatalogPath,CustomerMessageDBPath,DefaultTimeoutMinutes,DSN,LightWriteback,ReportAggregateEnabled,XPLowFragmentationHeap,EnablePartialReportUpdate,ActionFramework,ActionLinks,SoapClient,AdvancedReporting,Alerts,AsyncLogon,Authentication,BriefingBook,Cache,Catalog,BIComposer,Views,CSV,Cursors,Dashboard,Disconnected,DiscovererServers,HeapCompaction,HTTP,Hypercube,Drilling,JavaHostProxy,Listener,Lists,Localization,Logging,CatalogCrawlerLogging,LogonParam,Marketing,MessageTables,MiniDump,OC4JServer,ODBC,PDF,Prompts,RDS,ReportCache,CatalogObjectSchemaValidation,Scheduler,Scorecard,Security,ServerConnectInfo,SpatialMaps,StatePool,SSLCredentialStore,UsernamePasswordCredentialStore,SubjectAreaMetadata,TestAutomation,ThreadPoolDefaults,TimeZone,UI,URL,XmlCacheDefaults,CatalogCrawler,UserprefCurrenciesConfigFile,UserCurrencyPreferences,EnableHostsLookupInSessionsScreen,BIEEHomeLists,FijiFeatures,Utilities,QueryManager,ExecutionContext,ClientSideCaching,DeploymentProfile,EnableCredentialStoreLoad)'

UnaccessedRunningTimeoutMinutes parameter is basically to keep the session active if we do not access the application for a specified time. Due to this error user is not able to enforce UnaccessedRunningTimeoutMinutes on Presentation server.
