Smart View Errors "Cannot Connect to Provider" and "System.OutOfMemoryException"

When you run a large report in SmartView for Office you get the error:
Cannot Connect To Provider. Make Sure It Is Running In the Specified Host/Port. (Error 500)
Smaller reports are displayed correctly. You have implemented the solution suggested in <Document 1272729.1>, but it didn't help.
In the Windows Event Log (Application) on the web server the following error message is recorded:

Event ID: 1309
Event code: 3005
Event message: An unhandled exception has occurred.
Exception type: OutOfMemoryException
Exception message: Exception of type 'System.OutOfMemoryException' was thrown.
