Smart View Error "Empty Response from Provider" After Applying PSU for HFM (Doc ID 1371368.1)

Smart View does not connect to the HFM Office Provider. The following error message is displayed:

Empty response from provider.

When you enter the Smart View URL into a web browser, e.g. http://localhost/hfmofficeprovider/hfmofficeprovider.aspx a blank web page is shown.
