OBIEE 11g: How To Manually Test | Check The OBIEE 11G BI Server (nqsserver) Executable On Linux | Unix Starts (Doc ID 1388807.1)

Last updated on SEPTEMBER 10, 2021

Applies to:

Business Intelligence Server Enterprise Edition - Version 11.1.1.7.170718 and later
Generic Linux
Generic UNIX

Purpose

In some circumstances the OBIEE 11g BI Server System Component (nqsserver) may not start up via Enterprise Manager Fusion Middleware Control or via the opmnctl command-line.  Additionally, there may be no entries in the nqserver.log (or nothing significant) indicating a problem; therefore, you may need to start the executable manually to see if any message is logged in the console, check for a core dump (crash) or to use further operating diagnostic tools such as truss, dtrace, strace, etc.

The scope of this note is to explain how to start the executable manually for additional troubleshooting, the purpose is not to convey every conceivable method of troubleshooting or every root cause of startup failure.
