Discoverer 10g/11g Connecting to E-Business Suite EUL Fails With "Authentication Failed" or "ORA-01017: invalid username/password" (Doc ID 1468623.1)

The purpose of this document is to assist Discoverer Administrators in troubleshooting Discoverer 10g or 11g logon failures in an Oracle E-Business Suite (EBS) EUL, aka "Oracle Applications/Oracle Applications mode EUL."
These logon failures may occur when logging in to any Discoverer component (Administration/Desktop Edition, Plus or Viewer) in an Oracle Applications mode EUL.

The Oracle Applications user may logon to Discoverer with a valid username and password, but may still encounter invalid password or other authentication errors such as:

"Authentication Failed"

"ORA-01017: invalid username/password;logon denied"
"Failed to connect to database - Unable to connect to Oracle Applications database."

"Could not locate or parse the .dbc file corresponding to the given Oracle Applications Instance."

The information in this document is comprehensive and is intended to aid Administrators in diagnosing the cause and solution for these authentication errors.
This document is applicable to Oracle Applications mode EUL's in Oracle Discoverer versions 10g or 11g.
