OBIEE 11g: How To Grant Permissions so that any new BI Server Log Files has 644 Permission (Doc ID 1486846.1)

Last updated on SEPTEMBER 13, 2015

Applies to:

Business Intelligence Server Enterprise Edition - Version 11.1.1.5.0 [1308] and later
Business Intelligence Suite Enterprise Edition - Version 11.1.1.5.0 [1308] and later
Linux x86-64
Linux x86

Goal

You want to change the permissions on any log files generated by OBIEE, so that all users can access them.  By default, the permissions on a file created in the diagnostics directory are set to 640.  But you want to set them to 644 so that they are not readable by users who are neither the owner nor the part of the group which has been given read permission by default.

These are the files in question:

obieelocal/obiee/user_projects/domains/bifoundation_domain/servers/AdminServer/logs/AdminServer.log
/obieelocal/obiee/user_projects/domains/bifoundation_domain/servers/bi_server1/logs/bi_server1.log
/obieelocal/obiee/user_projects/domains/bifoundation_domain/servers/bi_server1/logs/bipublisher/bipublisher.log
/obieelocal/obiee/instances/instance1/diagnostics/logs/OracleBIServerComponent/coreapplication_obis1/nqserver.log
/obieelocal/obiee/instances/instance1/diagnostics/logs/OracleBIClusterControllerComponent/coreapplication_obiccs1/nqcluster.log
