Symptoms

You are using OBIA 7.9.6.3 with OBIEE 11.1.1.6.0 and Oracle 11g.

Initialization blocks for OBIA are failing with following errors in nqsserver.log:

[2012-09-12T12:00:00.000+00:00] [OracleBIServerComponent] [ERROR:1] [] [] [ecid: 004x] [tid: 441d8940] [nQSError: 17014] Could not connect to Oracle database. [[
[nQSError: 17001] Oracle Error code: 1017, message: ORA-01017: invalid username/password; logon denied

When you test the initialization blocks in the Administrator tool in online mode, they are successful.

Oracle Call Interface for connection pool is set to OCI 10g/11g as specified in <Note 1470423.1> - OBIEE 11g: Error: "[nQSError: 43059] Init Block ..Dynamic refresh of repository scope variables has failed. Oracle Error code: 1017, message: ORA-01017: invalid username/password; logon denied".

You have checked you settings against the document 'Initialization Block Configuration in OBI Repository.pdf' (which is attached to this note for reference) and all your settings are correct.
