Error Logging in to OBIEE after Configuring LDAP Integration (Doc ID 1552822.1)

After configuring LDAP integration within Weblogic Application Server Admin Console and Enterprise Manager (SystemUser, etc.), it is found that Oracle Business Intelligence Enterprise Edition (OBIEE) cannot connect to the Oracle BI Security Service.

This error is received when any users try to log into OBIEE:

Error in getting roles from BI Security Service: 'Error Message From BI Security Service: SecurityService::validateSystemUserSystem user could not be authenticated'

Bi_server1.out log file contains the following (extract): SecurityService::authenticateUserWithLanguageUnexpected error authenticating user {0}
Caused By: java.lang.NullPointerException SecurityService::validateSystemUserSystem user could not be authenticated
Caused By: SecurityService::authenticateUserWithLanguageUnexpected error authenticating user {0}
