OBIEE 11g: After Patching from 11.1.1.6 to 11.1.1.7, The 'Principal Field' Value Is Blank or does not Display when Searching Users to Add to a Role

Symptoms

You have installed OBIEE 11g with BISQLGroupProvider for authorization and Microsoft Active Directory for authentication.

After Patching from OBIEE 11.1.1.6 to 11.1.1.7, the 'Principal Field' value is blank (it does not display) when searching users to add to a role.

You get the following error:

java.lang.NullPointerException

The AdminServer-diagnostic.log contains the full error stack.
