11g After Applying Database 11g or 12c Patch - Connection to Discoverer Plus and Viewer Fails with ORA-03113 (Doc ID 1627043.1)

Symptoms

When attempting to connect to the Discoverer 10g or 11g with Single Sign-On enabled , the following error occurs :

A connection error has occurred.
- Discoverer does not support direct connections to Heterogeneous Data Sources.
- ORA-03113: end-of-file on communication channel

Changes

Applied the Oracle Database 11.2.0.4 or 12c (12.1.0.1) patch set

Enabled SSO with the Discoverer 10g or 11g
