OBIEE 11g: How To Connect to a Secure Oracle Database with User Specific Connection Pool Credentials (Doc ID 1632879.1)

You need to connect to a secure (Oracle) database through OBIEE 11g.

The administrator of OBIEE is not the same as the administrator of the secure database. You want OBIEE users to see secure data, but you do not want the OBIEE administrator to see data from the secure database.

If you use a shared pool, the OBIEE administrator can see data in the Administration Tool (for example, accessing the database through the physical layer).

If you base security via roles, the OBIEE administrator could give himself the required role.

However, with specific credentials, OBIEE users that are allowed to see data have their own log on credentials and the data filtering is done by the secure database depending on the connection user (database user).
