OBIEE 11g:MS Office 2010 Error "Power point cant read\ ….\<filename>.ppt" While Trying to Open The Powerpoint 2003 Downloaded From Answers (Doc ID 1634838.1)

Symptoms

You have created a report with chart and exported to Powerpoint 2003 and Powerpoint 2007+.
Office 2010 is installed in the machine.

The powerpoint exported to 2007+ format opens fine and the chart is displayed as shown in report.

The powerpoint exported to 2003 format fails to open with error message :

”Power point cant read ..\….\<filename>.ppt’"


This issue can be reproduced at will using the following steps:

  1. Create a report with samplesales lite rpd using: Time: Pername Year,Product: LOB,Fact: Revenue
  2. Go to Result->click on New view->Graph->Line
  3. Click on Export this Analysis and Export to Powerpoint 2003 and Powerpoint 2007+
  4. Now try to open the saved Powerpoint 2003 and Powerpoint 2007+ from a machine where MS Office 2010 is installed
