OBIEE 11g: Grand Totals are not Calculated Correctly on Hierarchical Columns when a Level is Skipped in the Report

One of the report has a multi-select prompt on a hierarchical attribute. When multiple values for that attribute are selected, if a parent and grand child are selected, the grand total is not calculated correctly.
Below is an example of such a hierarchy:
If P1 and C1, C3 are selected in the prompt, then the grand total = C1a + C1b + C3a + C3b = C1 + C3 = P1.
If P1 and C1a are selected, then the total applies only to C1 and not to C3a and C3b, giving a grand total = C1a + C1b = C1 <> P1. The incorrect totals are shown here:
