OBIEE 11G -- How does the LogonExpireMinutes Parameter work? (Doc ID 1911605.1)

Last updated on SEPTEMBER 27, 2021

Applies to:

Business Intelligence Server Enterprise Edition - Version 11.1.1.7.140114 and later
Information in this document applies to any platform.

Goal

How does the OBIEE parameter ClientSessionExpireMinutes work? It is set from FMW Control. However, that time-out only kicks in, when the user is IDLE for the specified time

Then we found the Presentation Services parameter LogonExpireMinutes.

The following Oracle documentation https://docs.oracle.com/cd/E28280_01/bi.1111/e10541/psconfigset.htm#CHEDCBIG says:

LogonExpireMinutes   --  Specifies a time in minutes, after which a user is automatically logged off.

However, that does not seem to work.

The result is that sessions being idle for more than 3 minutes get kicked out (effect of ClientSessionExpireMinutes).

But other sessions, where the user clicks around, lives longer than 3 minutes. The sessions live longer than 3 minutes and the user is not given the Login-Screen, he can move around OBIEE as long as he wants.

Could you please clarify what LogonExpireMinutes really does?
