ODI Error "com.hyperion.odi.planning.ODIPlanningException: Single sign on validation failed" When Reversing a Planning Application (Doc ID 1948713.1)

Symptoms

Two environments are running on the same machine(s) (e.g. test and development), different users were used for the installations and different ports were used for all running applications.

The port that the RMI service runs on had been changed in the EPM configuration utility for the target machine from the default of 11333.

When reversing a Planning application from ODI the following error is being seen that indicates an authentication problem (caused by 'crosstalk' between the two systems when different users exist in both systems - hence the authentication failure). The usual cause of this error is simply an incorrect user / password combination:

com.hyperion.odi.planning.ODIPlanningException: Single sign on validation failed

This only affects Planning 11.1.2.3.500 and newer.

Changes

The RMI port has been changed from the default port of 11333 by using the EPM system configrator.
