OBIEE 11g: PORTALPATH Becomes Invalid Showing My Dashboard Instead (Doc ID 2006662.1)

You have set the Session Variable, PORTALPATH, in OBIEE 11g, which specifies the default dashboard page you see on logging in.

At first the PORTALPATH is valid. When you log in, you see the page specified in the PORTALPATH.
But after you access the page of My Account->Preferences, even though you do not change anything, if you then click on the OK button for saving, then log out and log into OBIEE again, the PORTALPATH becomes invalid.
