OBIEE 11g/12c - EXCEL 2007+ Exports Wrong Date Format For Non-ENU (Doc ID 2007856.1)

Last updated on JULY 22, 2020

Applies to:

Business Intelligence Suite Enterprise Edition - Version and later
Information in this document applies to any platform.

Date fields exported to Excel 2007+ do not retain the same date format as Answers reports. The day and month elements of the Excel output was switched around from the Answers output. Date fields exported to PDF and Excel 2003 work correctly.

The issue occurs when switching the Answers Language setting different from the Windows Locale.

Steps to reproduce the issue:

In OBIEE Server environment (ENU), log in to Answers (using Sample Sales Lite RPD) as 'Deutsch' Language.
Create simple report of 1 column; Time.Calendar Date.
Answers Results displays Calendar Date as: 01.10.2006

Export to Excel 2003 and Calendar Date is correctly displayed as: 01.10.2006

Export to Excel 2007 and Calendar Date is incorrectly displayed as: 10/01/2006

Here we see the date format for Excel 2003 and 2007 are different for DEU and that have been switched to mm/dd

This also occurs if you log in to Answers as 'French' language, so not specific to DEU.
