Last updated on JUNE 08, 2015

Business Intelligence Suite Enterprise Edition - Version 11.1.1.7.0 and later
Information in this document applies to any platform.

Symptoms

Oracle Business Intelligence Enterprise Edition (OBIEE)  11.1.1.7.x version.

The External Background Maps in OBIEE cause Property Errors in Internet Explorer (IE) browser only.

There are multiple Analysis in OBIEE that use the external background map from Bing. When you display the Analysis with the map using Chrome or Firefox, no errors are returned. It works fine. When you display the analysis with the map in IE (7 through 10 version), property errors are returned:

obips.Map.Viewer.prototype.overviewStateHandler :TypeError: Unable to get property 'get1stMapTileLayer' of undefined or null reference

obips.Map.Viewer.prototype.overviewStateHandler :TypeError: Unable to get property 'minX' of undefined or null reference

TypeError: Unable to get property 'length' of undefined or null reference

We also get the errors:

      only secure content is displayed

  initMapView: Error: Operation aborted

Users may receive this error message if a Web page in a Trusted Sites Zone sends a HTTP 302 redirect to a page in the Internet Zone. With protected mode, Internet Explorer 7 and later versions that are running on

Windows Vista or a later operating system prevent redirects from Web pages that run at medium integrity to Web pages that run at low integrity for security reasons. In these scenarios, users may receive a similar

"Operation Aborted" error message. To resolve this issue, make sure that HTTP 302 redirects are for pages within the same zone. For example, make sure that a redirect is from one Trusted Sites Zone page to another

Trusted Sites Zone page. Or, make sure that both the source and the destination of the redirect don't involve a change in Internet Explorer's protected mode status.
