Symptoms

+ Login to Discoverer Viewer or Plus may sometimes take several minutes regardless of which browser is used.
This delay has particularly been seen when connecting to APPSMODE or E-Business Suite end user layers.

Please note that the solution is not applicable to standalone Discoverer environment.

The following message is displayed during the login:
Request Progress
Processing your request
The page you have requested is taking some time to process. Please wait...

The Discoverer application itself is fast after logging in.

Then, after exiting or cancelling the application (without closing the browser), it is noticed that subsequent logins take just seconds.
If the browser is closed and a new browser session is opened, then the login to Discoverer is slow again and takes several minutes again.

+ Sometimes the login delay will even cause a timeout exception and gives following error in the front-end:

The application encounters an invalid state..
- Connection timed out - Nested exception: org.omg.CORBA.COMM_FAILURE: Connection timed out vmcid: 0x0 minor code: 0 completed: No
- Connection timed out
Oracle BI Discoverer Viewer cannot find the data necessary to display the results of ths event.
Correct any errors, and try again

The WLS_DISCO-diagnostic.log shows an exception like the following:
