Goal

In Hyperion Web Analysis you can hide certain intersections of data from showing. This is built in the Web Analysis (found in the Show/Hide Only functionality found in the Analysis Tools Manager). This is not Asymmetrical drilling, but the actual report itself is. You are also using a hierarchy column in the Analysis, so Unions won’t work.

For example, in the below OBIEE report the columns look like this (where “JAN”, “FEB”, and “MAR” are repository variables so the report is dynamic). There is always valid data present for the Scenarios Actual, Budget, and Variance across all time periods:

  JAN | FEB | MAR
Actual, Budget, Variance | Actual, Budget, Variance | Actual, Budget, Variance

You would like to hide the intersections of “JAN” (a repository variable)->”Actual”, “JAN”->”Variance”, “FEB” (another repository variable)->”Actual”, and “FEB”->”Budget” in OBIEE. In Hyperion, (and how you would like the report to look in OBIEE) the columns look like this:

  JAN | FEB | MAR
Actual | Actual | Actual, Budget, Variance

How to  do asymmetric reporting in OBIEE using a relation database as the source.
