Exalytics and EPM 11.1.2.3.500: Opening Reporting Analysis Link in Financial Reporting Fails with Error "GsmNotFound"

Symptoms

Unable to open Financial Reporting Reports in EPM 11.1.2.3.500 on an Exalytics T5-8 Solaris 11 OVM server.
When starting the RA Framework service on the server, the following errors are seen in the log:
