ESSBASE: Application Crashes When a User with Filter Access on Set Active, Users Get Error: Network Error 10054 (Doc ID 2113465.1)

When users retrieve in Smart View, they get an error:

Network Error 10054

The Essbase application crashes with an exception log (xcp) when a user assigned to a group filter logs in on the 'set active' process.  There are no known triggers.  An xcp will be generated and shows the following stack:
