Essbase Error: "1090010 - Error in File [/path/filename.txt] Which is] Spreadsheet when loading blank file (0bytes)" to Essbase in Linux Server (Doc ID 2117705.1)

Last updated on MAY 18, 2022

Applies to:

Hyperion Essbase - Version and later
Information in this document applies to any platform.

In a hardcoded setup that is used to export and re-import Essbase data via pre-prepared text files, an error may be encountered if the files exist but are empty.

When loading an empty file (e.g. filename.txt) which is 0KB big (0 Characters, 0 Lines) using MaxL on Linux Essbase server, it fails with below error:

ERROR - 1090010 - Error in File [/path/filename.txt] Which is] Spreadsheet.
ERROR - 1241101 - Unexpected Essbase error 1090010.

The pre-existing text files were initially blank copies from an existing blank file using "alter object" maxl statement.

When data gets exported from the source cube, depending on exported data size some of these files would contain data, others would not.

The empty files created using Windows Text editor in Essbase 9.3 version were working fine in Essbase Server running on Windows.

Post migration to Essbase 11.1..2.4 version which now runs on UNIX, the empty files were copied over to UNIX.

The import maxl statement failed in the new environment.
