OBIEE 11g|12c: Users are Logged Out after One Hour or at Intermittent Intervals after SSO Authentication via SAML

OBIEE 188.8.131.52.X with WebLogic Server 10.3.6 PSU 12
OBIEE is configured to enable Single Sign On (SSO) authentication via SAML.
Users login successfully via SSO but are logged out after one hour even though they are actively working. For example, a user may be executing a report with different dashboard prompt values, or navigating between dashboards, or developing / editing an analysis etc. and the SSO Login Page will be thrown prompting the user to supply their SSO credentials again.
The following symptom is observed in the WebLogic Managed Server (bi_server1) log file:
