OBIEE 12c: Node Manager Periodically Becomes Inactive And Has To Be Restarted (Doc ID 2171871.1)

Symptoms

The node manager periodically stops working (goes into inactive state) in an OBIEE 12c (12.2.1.1.0) environment. The node manager log shows the following warning message:


<WARNING> <Node Manager command 'INVOCATION' failed unexpectedly due to: [Connection reset]. Please check Node Manager log and/or server log for detailed information.>

When viewing the availability tab for Oracle Business Intelligence in Fusion Middleware Control Enterprise Manager, the status of all the processes show as 'Down' even though analytics login works.
