BDD 1.3.2 on BDA V4.5 is Not Renewing Kerberos Tickets on a Periodic Basis Forcing BDD to Restart Daily -- Apply Patch 25244043 to Resolve (Doc ID 2216891.1)

Last updated on JANUARY 05, 2017

Applies to:

Big Data Appliance Integrated Software - Version 4.5.0 and later
Oracle Big Data Discovery - Version and later
Linux x86-64

With BDD 1.3.2 or 1.2.2 on BDA V4.5, BDD is not renewing Kerberos tickets on a periodic basis which forces BDD to restart daily.

Uploading CSV files to BDD raises the following errors in the  $BDD_DOMAIN/servers/<serverName>/logs/bdd-studio.log file:

ERROR [TSaslTransport] SASL negotiation failure GSS initiate failed [Caused by GSSException: No valid credentials provided (Mechanism level: Failed to find any Kerberos tgt)]
at org.apache.thrift.transport.TSaslClientTransport.handleSaslStartMessage(
at org.apache.hadoop.hive.thrift.client.TUGIAssumingTransport$
at org.apache.hadoop.hive.thrift.client.TUGIAssumingTransport$

Restarting BDD will resolve the issue, but the problem just happens again.
