BDD Oracle Big Data Discovery Fails To Execute When Using Teradata Hadoop Cluster
Last updated on MARCH 01, 2017
Applies to:Oracle Big Data Discovery - Version 220.127.116.11.0 and later
Information in this document applies to any platform.
In this case, BDD release is 18.104.22.168.0
Teradata uses Cloudera CDH 5.8.0, we're having 3 x master, 3 x slave (BDD nodes (3 x bdd nodes, bdd01, bdd03 and bdd05, all virtualized over Exalytics)) and 2 x edge nodes on the Teradata system.
Teradata uses SuSe GNU/Linux (SLES 11 SP3 x64), so the first thing that fails is its search for the /etc/redhat-release.
Discovered two main points:
- The bdd installer verifies all operating system requirements on all nodes including hadoop nodes.
- The bdd installer does not understand the taxonomy of the Hadoop Cluster service names.
