OBIEE 12c: Users Not Able To Log in To Analytics After Configuring The SQL Authenticator

On a newly installed OBIEE 12c instance followed the following documentation to set up the SQL Authenticator as per the steps in the Fusion Middleware Security Guide for Oracle Business Intelligence Enterprise Edition -> Configuring a Database as the Authentication Provider
However, no database users or the weblogic user in the default authenticator can log in to Analytics after that. The following error occurs:
