Smart View Essbase Connection Error "Unable To Connect To The Provider" When Two Analytic Provider Services (APS) Standalone Servers are Configured

In an EPM System configured with two standalone Provider Services (APS) servers (not clustered or load-balanced), connecting to Essbase to the second APS server will cause Smart View to generate the following error:
"Unable to Connect to the Provider"
