OBIEE 12c: Manage Server Is In Admin Mode After Doing Scale Out

Symptoms

The managed server is in Admin Mode after doing scale out for OBIEE.

There is one single node instance that is complete with SSO and LDAP and with all changes and up and running.

This node was scaled out and then the second node. After that, the managed server is not coming in running stage. It continues to show Admin mode.

The following message was found in the bi_server1.out log:



The issue can be reproduced at will with the following steps:


1. Single node complete with SSO and LDAP up and running.
2. Scale out node 2.
3. Managed server is not coming up. It shows in Admin mode.
