OBIEE 12c: "No such file or directory" Error While Using the patchrpd.sh Script (Doc ID 2390470.1)

Goal

You are trying to use the patchrpd script as per the instructions in the Metadata Repository Builder's Guide, however the process fails with an error:

$ cd <DOMAIN_HOME>/bitools/bin
$ ./patchrpd.sh -P <custPwd> -C <custRpd> -Q <origPwd> -G <origRpd> -S <patchFile1Password> -I <patchFile1> -O <outputRpd> -U
XML execution finished successfully.
[94014] Complete Success of patch application on original repository!!
The following repository is opened: <custRpd>
[94011] The following repository cannot be opened: <outputRpd>
[nQSError: 46073] Operation 'open()' on file 'RPD_patched.rpd' failed with error: (2) No such file or directory.
Project extract is successful for the repository: <origRpd>.
[94018] Projects extract fails on original repository: <origRpd>. See log file for the details.
[94042] Patch cannot be applied on RPD_Original.rpd. See log file for the details
Output log files can be found at <DOMAIN_HOME>/servers/obis1/logs.
