Symptoms

Importing Hyperion Planning Application with LCM fails with the following error. The error is displayed in the Shared Services Migration Status. The actual application name is replaced with <application name>

The error in Shared Services Migration status is 
Source:  HP-HCE (File System)     Destination:  <application name> (Application) 
EPMLCM-18000: Invalid application name - <application name> in MDF.

The Planning_WebApp.log shows the following error
