OBIEE 12.2.1.4: Unable to Import BAR File after Upgrade from 12.2.1.2 and Received Error: 'DSS Storage Plugin failed' if MS SQL Server Database Used (Doc ID 2598808.1)

Symptoms

On OBIEE 12.2.1.4.0 version, after upgrade from 12.2.1.2, unable to import ssi.bar in OBIEE 12.2.1.4 version when MS SQL Server Database is used.

  1. Upgraded OBIEE from 12.2.1.2 to 12.2.1.4 successfully.
  2. Tried importing the exported bar from 12.2.1.2 to 12.2.1.4, Import unsuccessful. The issue happens during MS SQL Server Database is used
  3. Getting the below error.

ERROR

Storage Plugin failed for: oracle.bi.web.datasetsvc.car.plugin.metadata.OfflineDSSStoragePlugin:commitImport

Failed Operation Statue Code Description: Operation Failed

  

The below entries are found in the dss_storage_plugin.log

at oracle.bi.web.datasetsvc.car.plugin.metadata.fmw12c.DSSAPIAgentImpl.performImportStep(DSSAPIAgentImpl.java:107)

at oracle.bi.web.datasetsvc.car.plugin.metadata.DSSStoragePlugin.performImportStep(DSSStoragePlugin.java:217)

at oracle.bi.web.datasetsvc.car.plugin.metadata.DSSStoragePlugin.commitImport(DSSStoragePlugin.java:195)

Caused by: oracle.bi.web.datasetsvc.api.direct.exception.DirectApiInternalException: oracle.bi.web.datasetsvc.api.core.exception.ArchiveException: oracle.bi.web.datasetsvc.api.core.exception.UnarchiveException: java.sql.SQLSyntaxErrorException: [FMWGEN][SQLServer JDBC Driver][SQLServer]Invalid column name 'DATAGEN_DEPS_ID'.

at oracle.bi.web.datasetsvc.api.direct.v2.DirectApiImpl.importContentArchive(DirectApiImpl.java:150)

at oracle.bi.web.datasetsvc.car.plugin.offline.DirectAPIClient.importContentArchive(DirectAPIClient.java:65)

 

In metadatalcm_op_run_<TIMESTAMP>.log, found the following

STORAGE PLUGIN NAME : oracle.bi.web.datasetsvc.car.plugin.metadata.OfflineDSSStoragePlugin:commitImport

OPERATION RESULT : false

OPERATION STATUS CODE : Operation Failed
