Symptoms

When creating a Data Set from OBIEE subject areas, format CHAR type column using "TrimBoth" function does not return with expected result; the trailing character can not be trimed.

This issue can be reproduced by the following steps:

1.Create a Connection.

2.Select Oracle Applications.

3.Input connection information (<Connection Name>, <Host>, <Username>, <Password>) of your OBIEE Server.

4.Create Data Set.

5.Select the OBIEE Server created in step 3.

6.Select the subject area.

7.Add the CHAR type column to Data Set, for example, "NAME" .

8.Edit the column.

9.Set "TrimBoth" function as below to trim both the leading and trailing characters 'A' off the column data.

10.See both the leading and trailing  characters 'A' are trimed and click Add Step and Apply script button.

11.But when Create Project and add the column to table view. On the 'Visualize' page, we can see the trailing character 'A' is still not trimed.
