HFM hangs with white screen in Workspace or timeout in Smart View when trying to open an HFM application (Doc ID 2766150.1)

Symptoms

HFM hangs when trying to open an HFM application. In Workspace, a new tab is opened for the selected application but the contents of the tab remain blank. If attempting to open the HFM application through Smart View, it becomes unresponsive or throws a time out error.

On the HFM web server, in the log file MIDDLEWARE_HOME\servers\HFMWeb0\logs\HFMWeb0.logxxxxx (for example, D:\Oracle\Middleware\user_projects\domains\EPMSystem\servers\HFMWeb0\logs\HFMWeb0.log00315) you find "fat lock" error messages like the following, with timestamps corresponding to the time period when HFM was not responding. 

 

Changes

Higher usage than normal, with multiple users attempting to access HFM simultaneously.
