Oracle Business Intelligence ONS Connections on Port 6200 To A RAC Database Server Do Not Release (Doc ID 2766234.1)

Last updated on APRIL 05, 2021

Applies to:

Business Intelligence Suite Enterprise Edition - Version 12.2.1.4.200414 to 12.2.1.4.0 [Release 12g]
Oracle Analytics Server - Version 5.5.0 and later
Information in this document applies to any platform.

Symptoms

Your infrastructure team may have blocked Oracle Notification Services (ONS) communication (default port 6200) via a firewall to the RAC database due to an issue with ONS not releasing socket connections as observed by the command: netstat -an | grep 6200

The build-up of connection causes the Oracle Business Intelligence process to be stopped and started periodically to clear the connection backlog.

What are the steps to perform on the Oracle Business Intelligence (OBIEE) or Oracle Analytics Server (OAS) to disable ONS FAN events communications from the client Oracle Call Interface (OCI) database client?
