Using Outer join OBIEE subject area with excel sheet in a DataVisualizer project ,duplicates the join column

When we join an excel sheet with a OBIEE subject area and display the join column from both the subject area and the excel sheet, the values in both columns are equal, even when the excel sheet does not contain all the values from the subject area. So Lets say the subject area has 10 values and the excel sheet only 4, then when we add both columns in a DV project it shows the same 10 values in both columns. When you add a different column from the excel sheet it shows empty values for the rows not in the excel sheet.
