After Delete An Application Role and View The Data From Subject Area For Which Only The Removed Role Has Read Permission, NQSServer (OBIS) Crashes (Doc ID 2801938.1)

Last updated on SEPTEMBER 06, 2023

Applies to:

Oracle Analytics Server - Version 5.5.0 to 5.9.0 [Release 5]
Information in this document applies to any platform.

After delete an application role in EM and online repository sides, if you refresh the data from an Subject Area for which only the removed application role has read permission, NQSServer (OBIS) crashes and restarts.

This symptom has been confirmed on OAS 5.5 for both Windows and Linux platforms, and on OAS 5.9 for Windows but not Linux platform.

 - There is an analysis "Analysis1" that retrieve the data from a subject area "SubjectArea1".

 - Only application role "ROLE1" has the read permission for "SubjectArea1". "No Access" is set for all the other application roles. Therefor, if you delete the "ROLE1" from EM and online repository, then no user has the permission to retrieve data from "SubjectArea1".

Reproducible steps:

1. An end user who belongs to "ROLE1" logged in to Analytics and open "Analysis1".

2. Administrator login to EM and delete the application role "ROLE1".

3. Administrator open the repository in online mode, "Synchronize Application Roles" in Identity Manager, and delete the corresponding role "ROLE1".

4. The end user who belongs to "ROLE1" refresh data in "Analysis1", or add some columns from "SubjectArea1" to "Analysis1" , then OBIS crash and restart by nodemanager
