Applies to:

Business Intelligence Reporting and Publishing - Version 12.2.1.4.0 and later
Oracle Analytics Server - Version 5.5.0 to 5.5.0.20080828 [Release 5]
Information in this document applies to any platform.

Symptoms

Many Inactive OAS connections on the database.

OAS is not terminating the connections created on the database after the requests are completed. This leads to a lot of Inactive sessions on the database up to 5000+ sessions and eventually database slows down or is unresponsive.

You may confirm this by running the following query on the databse:

SQL> select SYSDATE, SID, USERNAME, STATUS, PROGRAM, EVENT, SEQ#,
SECONDS_IN_WAIT, STATE 2 from v$session where PROGRAM like 'nqsserver%';
