Last updated on AUGUST 07, 2024
Applies to:
Oracle Analytics Server - Version 5.5.0 to 2024 [Release 5 to 24] Business Intelligence Suite Enterprise Edition - Version 12.2.1.4.0 and later Oracle E-Business Suite Technology Stack - Version 12.2 and later Information in this document applies to any platform.
Purpose
This paper provides the documented steps to integrate Oracle Business Intelligence 12c and Oracle Analytics Server (versions 5.5 till 2023) with Oracle E-Business Suite 12.2.x security.
These steps are only applicable for EBS Integration while accessing /analytics and /xmlpserver. This document may NOT work for DV URL endpoints /dv/ui. Data Visualization ONLY supported fusion middleware based Authentication and Authorization - DV does not support Initialization Block based Security. So the steps are not valid for Visual Analyzer/DV access.
OBIEE 12c: Does Data Visualization Support Authorization Via Initialization Blocks? (Doc ID 2130407.1)
Scope
The method described in this doc makes changes to the method of EBS security integration as documented in the Oracle BI Integrator’s guide. If the method described in this document achieves the required Oracle Analytics Server certification status, then the main Oracle Analytics Server documentation may change to reflect the information in this document. Therefore it is important to check the publication status on this document as it may be superseded in the future by the official Oracle Analytics Server documentation.
This document is aimed at Oracle Business Intelligence professionals familiar with Oracle Business Intelligence / Oracle Analytics Server.
There are certain limitations of this approach. The limitations include (but are not limited to):
Oracle BI Applications-EBS-style data security does not get picked up when creating a BI Publisher report. So a user who creates a BIP report will not see as much data as they should. This is because the lists of values that this user can see when logging in with a particular EBS Responsibility is not populated when BIP impersonates the user
Any row-wise session variables used for security filters must have an actual session variable defined with a 'null' default value. Otherwise creating the BIP report on a subject area fails
This approach has been tested against the following release versions
Oracle Analytics Server 5.x
Oracle Analytics Server 6.4
Oracle Analytics Server 2023
Oracle Analytics Server 2024
