Unable To Login to Essbase Administration Services : Null Pointer Exception (Doc ID 2885482.1)

Symptoms

EPM 11.2.8 Distributed environment.

Box 1. Foundation + Financial Reporting +Calc Manager + OHS

Box 2. EAS + APS and Essbase

Installation and configuration of all components was successful.

But login to EAS console, fails with " Login failed".
Issue occurs with both EAS web console and thick client.
Other components work fine.

easserver.log has the following entry :
